Scripture Text : 1 John 20-21

"The Christian life is more than just commitment to Christ; it includes a commitment to other christians."

Biblical Image of the Church

1. People of God

"For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility," - Ephesians 2:14

2. Body of Christ
"Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it." - 1 Corinthians 12:27

3. The Temple of God
"6I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. 7So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. 8The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. 9For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building.

16Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you? 17If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him; for God's temple is sacred, and you are that temple. " - 1 Corintians 3:6-9;16-17

Why do we need to build each other Faith?

Because we have a God to worship
"20If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. 21And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother." - 1John4:20-21

Because we have a testomony to protect
"6But instead, one brother goes to law against another—and this in front of unbelievers!" -1Corinthian6:6
Because we have fellow believers to edify
"19Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah's womb was also dead." - Romans 4:19

Because we have a mission to fulfill

"9For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building." - 1Corinthians 3:9
