100 Days to Heaven Something to Watch for!

May 03, 2011

Coney Reyes returns to primetime via the teleserye 100 Days to Heaven, which will premiere on May 9. At the press screening of the TV show’s first few episodes at Robinson’s Galleria last May 1, the seasoned actress arrived with child actress Xyriel Manabat, who plays her alter-ego in the teleserye. Coney portrays the role of Anna, a notorious lady boss, who maltreats other people. Anna then gets killed in a car accident but gets another chance at life in the form of a kid (played by Xyriel).  “Si Xyriel at ako iisa lang, isang tao lang kami. Siya ‘yung maliit ako tapos lumaki played by Shaina  (Magdayao) parang teenaged, [or] 20s, tapos nung tumanda na ako tapos something happened, namatay ako, nabigyan ng pagkakataon ulit so ‘yun. Naging bata ako.

“Actually it’s an answered prayer for me,” Coney said in the interview. Being a devout Christian, the seasoned actress shared that she longed for a project that will teach moral lessons to viewers. “I’ve been praying for a show na magbibigay ng pag-asa sa tao kasi sa dami ng mga nangyayari sa buong mundo, nakikita natin na wala… only God is in control. Wala tayong kontrol sa mga nangyayari sa mundo. Kasi ang mga tao nadi-discourage, nadi-disillusion, in despair.” She said that it is what makes 100 Days To Heaven different from other series. “Dito sa show na ito ipapakita natin na kailangan alisin na natin ‘yung poot at galit sa puso natin, magtulungan na tayo, magmahalan. Tama na ‘yung parang laging galit, laging may unforgiveness sa puso.

Coney also said that viewers will find the show endearing and that they will learn important lessons. “I'm sure masisiyahan kayo, matutuwa kayo, makakapulutan ninyo ng aral, mae-encourage kayo, mai-inspire kayo.”

Apart from the positive lessons of the teleserye, Coney added that working with a brilliant cast is an added bonus. “I’m so excited, I feel blessed, I feel so honored to be part of this show lalo na ‘yung mga kasama ko, ang gagaling,” she beamed. Her co-stars include Jodi Santamaria, Dominic Ochoa, Jason Abalos, Valerie Concepcion, Mark Gil, Joel Torre, and many others.  The veteran actress added that she is really impressed with Xyriel, who is talented in acting for her age. “Napapanganga ako kay Xyriel, ang galing-galing niya,” Coney said.

She continued that she admires Xyriel because she does not complain about work. “Super sarap kasi talagang sa kanya [ang pagtatrabaho]. It’s fun, it’s playing around the set and batang-bata talaga, love na love niya ‘yung ginagawa niya.”
